Conroe, Texas, since 1971

A shop that draws, welds and drafts under one roof.

Pool Custom Ironworks has been fabricating custom stairs, handrails and ornamental metal at 923 South 1st Street in Conroe since 1971. The name is the company's, not the trade. There is no swimming pool work here, only steel that is designed, drawn, welded and fabricated in-house, for commercial and residential jobs across Montgomery County and greater Houston.

The shop specializes in curved and spiral staircases, the kind most metal shops send out rather than build themselves, and has designed and installed them for businesses and schools throughout the local area. Most of the work leaving the building is commercial, though residential jobs are just as welcome.

Four disciplines, one shop

Welding, designing, fabricating and drafting, in-house since 1971.

Nothing is sent out to be drawn or cut somewhere else. The same team that takes the call is the team standing over the piece on the shop floor.

01

Designing

Every job is worked out before it is a job. What the piece has to carry, where it lives, and what it needs to look like get settled first.

02

Drafting

The design becomes a drawing. A curve arrives on site at the radius the building actually needs, because it was drawn to that radius in the first place.

03

Fabricating

Plate is rolled, brackets are tacked, and the assembly is welded and finished on the shop floor before it ever leaves the building.

04

Welding

Heli-arc and structural welding, done by the same shop that drew and cut the piece, not handed off to someone else's crew.

What the shop is known for

Curved and spiral staircases most shops turn down.

Layout marks like these are still on the steel when it leaves the shop floor. Every set of stairs is custom made to a drawing, and every one carries a free one year parts and labor warranty.

“Pool Custom's team does some incredible work. Their operation is quite large and can handle the big jobs. Furthermore, they have an experienced and talented team that communicates well and delivers on-time. Definitely worth a 5-star ranking!”

“I had a bronze shell snare drum that had a dent in it from poor shipping and these guys fixed it up in a heartbeat. I can't say thanks enough! Great workmanship and kind employees!”

Starting a job

Bring us whatever you have.

An architect’s plan set is ideal and it is not required. A hand sketch with rough dimensions, or a few photos of the space from different angles, is enough to start. We design and draft in-house, so a rough idea and a site visit can become a working drawing here rather than something you have to commission first.
